Admission Requirement:

Minimum GPA 2.5 or Second Division or above in both SSC and HSC or equivalent degree from any group (Science, Business Studies and Humanities)

Duration: 4-years’ term

Admission Requirement:

Minimum CGPA 2.00 or Second Class at Honors, Degree and Madrasah level or equivalent from any department along with the fulfillment of SSC and HSC criteria. Third class at Degree level is acceptable for admission enrolment.

Duration: 1 year and 2 years’ term

 

 

Program: B. A. (Honours) in English

 

Introduction: The syllabus designed for B.A. (Honours) in English concentrates on the fundamental elements of English language skills referring to Four Skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) subsequently leading to core courses of English literature. Students will have a conceptual knowledge on the basics of English literature such as figures of speech, literary devices and periods of English literature.

 

This syllabus includes the representative literary works of the respective periods like essays, novels, poems and dramas which enlighten students with main features and aspects of these genres of literature. Alongside the practice of literature, students will be taught some courses of English Language Teaching (ELT) as this stream is getting popular between teachers and students which will help them understand English language from theoretical and practical aspect.

However, this syllabus will be an effective teaching practicum, enjoyable learning scope and interactive pedagogical method in the arena of English language and literature.

Program: M.A. in English Language Teaching (ELT)

 

Introduction: M.A. in English Language Teaching (ELT) is a one-year program divided into two semesters (Spring and Fall) each spanning over six months. The total credits for the program are 36 each semester having 18 credits. There will be total 12 courses each of 3 credits. The students who have previously obtained B.A. (Honors) in English from any recognized university are eligible for admission into this M.A. program which exclusively concentrates on English language teaching practices and theories, syllabus design, the knowledge and skill of which is thought to be necessary for a good English language teacher.

Program: M.A. in English Literature

 

Introduction: M.A. in English Literature is a one-year program divided into two semesters (Spring and Fall) each spanning over six months. The total credits for the program are 36 each semester having 12 credits. There will be total 12 courses each of 3 credits. The students who have previously obtained B.A. (Honors) in English from any recognized university are eligible to get themselves admitted into this M.A. program which exclusively concentrates on English literature from a broader perspective incorporating culture, gender and postcolonial studies in its fold.
